  6. impassioned attacks on the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, but
  7. failed to sweep Progressive Conservative Prime Minister Brian
  8. Mulroney out of office. Last week, conceding the need for "fresh
  9. leadership," Turner said he would resign after a date is set to
  10. choose a successor. Likeliest prospect: Quebec's Jean Chretien,
  11. a former Justice and Finance minister.
